The Saskatoon Headhunters Brewing Club is proud to host its 9th annual homebrewing competition! We invite all homebrewers to submit their beer, cider or mead for judging under the 2021 BJCP style guidelines.
-
Only one entry per beer style or BJCP subcategory. If there is more than one beer style in a BJCP category, you can enter one beer for each substyle.
-
Entries are limited to 4 per person, with a total limit of 250 entries for this competition. Only paid entries will be counted towards the limit cap. NOTE: This limit will be increasing to 6 per person on September 5 at 7AM CST.
-
We will be judging based on the 2021 BJCP Guidelines.
-
While all entries will be judged based on the 2021 BJCP Guidelines, all entries will be sorted into categories based on the 2025 National Homebrew Competition Style Guidelines. Categories may be reorganized based on entries received.
-
The competition committee reserves the right to combine overall style categories based on the number of entries. All possible efforts will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.
-
Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of this event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge.
-
A minimum score of 30 must be obtained to qualify for a medal in any category.
-
This a homebrew competition, and no commercial entries will be accepted. This includes beer, cider or mead made on equipment for commercial research, production, brew-on-premises establishments, or anything of that nature.
-
The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged.
-
All decisions by the competition organizers are final.
Entry Acceptance Rules
We require two standard bottles of homebrewed beer, cider or mead per entry. Bottles will not be returned.
Each entry will consist of 300 to 500 mL capped, corked or swing-top bottles, or cans that are void of all identifying information, including labels and embossing. 341 mL brown bottles are prefered; however, all glass and plastic bottles, and cans will be accepted.
Please print and secure abels directly to your entry with packing tape or rubber bands.
The entry fee is $10 per entry, and paid by PayPal only as this allows the software to mark your entries as paid. Cash and cheques will not be accepted.
