Rules

This competition is a invitational competition, and ONLY open to amateur homebrewers age 21 or older who are active members of any California, Southern Oregon and Western Nevada Homebrew Club.

NEW IN 2026 - ALL OF CALIFORNIA IS WELCOME.

IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA, WESTERN NEVADA OR SOUTHERN OREGON, PLEASE DON'T REGISTER AN ENTRY.

Why do we limit the competition to these regional clubs? It's not that we don't want to welcome clubs from everywhere. We just made the decision to gradually grow this competition in order to learn the logistics of running a large competition. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions!

This competition will be AHA sanctioned

Each particiant will be responsible for either dropping their entries off at a designated drop-off location, or shipping their entries to the designated shipping location.

All entries must be delivered to a drop-off location, or received at the shipping location, by April 5th at 1pm

All entries will be picked up from designated drop-off locations the day of the drop-off deadline.

All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).

The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries or entries that arrived damaged.

Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge.

The anticipated Judging Categories and their accepted subcategories are as follows:

ALL 2021 BJCP BEER STYLES ACCEPTED. See info tab for full list. No Mead or Cider.

Brewers may enter one beer in each of the catagories listed above.

Entries must receive a minimum score of 30 in order to qualify for a medal

The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles for judging and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.

The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the category winners.

Please visit the INFO page for complete entry rules.

Bottles and cans will not be returned to entrants.

Entry Acceptance Rules

Number of Bottles Required Per Entry: 3

Each entry will consist of 3 capped bottles, corked bottles or cans that are void of all identifying information, including labels and embossing. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.

12oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass will be accepted. Swing top bottles will likewise be accepted as well as corked bottles and cans. Bottles or cans should be a minimum of 12 oz each, or a maximum of 22 oz.

Bottles and cans will not be returned to contest entrants.

All requisite paperwork must be submitted with each entry and can be printed directly from your profile page on this website.

Entry paperwork MUST be attached to all bottles.

Completely covering labels with clear packing tape to prevent damage or loss is recommended.

Taping labels to dry bottles before filling is highly recommended.

Folding back or "Dog-earing" the end of the tape to ease removal would be HIGHLY APPRECIATED!

Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring of your entry.

Please be sure to list all possible allergens!
